How does biodiversity affect the stability of an ecosystem?
Biodiversity causes variations in the organism. If the ecosystem is made up of a number of different things it is less likely that all of them will be wiped out during a disaster. Since there are variations in organisms from bacteria to human beings it is less likely all of them will be affected by one adverse condition. They have different ecological niches and adaptations. Some organisms will be able to adapt to these conditions and thrive, the adverse condition may be optimum for them. Whereas some organisms well suffer physilogical stress. SO we can see that in the even of a disaster if there are differences it is less likely the whole ecosystem will be effected and wiped out.
